In order to raise awareness of and educate people about issues surrounding violence against women in Africa, we plan to hold an annual conference in Washington D.C. in the years of 2015, 2016 and 2017. The conference will also be an opportunity to seek out some press and obtain publicity for UAA. We have already held one conference on July 23rd, 2013 at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC. We were able to obtain a panel of distinguished speakers that included Barak Hoffman, executive director of the Center for Democracy, Rahama Wright, president of Shea Yeleen International, Inc., and Nicole Kirby of Carver Communications. Also in attendance were the Ambassador of Guinea Blaise Cherif, Ambassador of Nigeria Mom Sidikou, Ambassador of Central African Republic Stanislas Moussa Kembe and the future Trinidad representative at the United Nations, Denis G. Antoine.
